Butterflies for courageous kids

Let me share with you a project I found on Facebook a few weeks ago. It's called butterflies for courageous kids and was started by nineteen year old Alli. Alli is studying to be a pediatric oncology nurse. In her free time she creates personalized butterflies for courageous kids and their families. She said she supports the Jessie Rees Foundation and encourages kids to NEGU (Never Ever Give Up). Her mission statement is "to raise awareness of various pediatric conditions and illnesses while encouraging kids to NEGU."
Alli gives the butterflies free to all children and their families. She customizes the butterflies according to each child's interests. You can visit her Facebook page and see some of the butterflies that she has created and given out. Some of her recent ones were to Lidie and Amaya. The girls received their butterflies yesterday. I had requested them earlier in the week. I'm not sure how she manages to get them out so quickly, but she does.
The girls liked their butterflies. Amaya was touched that her butterfly was created just for her to recognize and encourage her for all her hard work.
Here's Lidie with her butterfly.  It fits her personality, bright, pink and shiny!
Here's Amaya with her butterfly. Hers is blue and full of joy, just like her. The butterflies are simple and sweet, but the meaning behind them is huge. The butterflies "symbolize hope, joy and freedom." Being a gift from a stranger who sends empathy and encouragement is touching.
Amaya was inspired to create her own butterfly.
